Our current processing plant consists of Humphreys Spirals to reduce the amount of impurities and silicates. The plant washes the sand to liberate and remove most of the impurities and then separates off the lighter silicates on the spirals.
We have also developed a new patent pending processing technique that uses a milling and attritioning circuit to polish the chromite grains and help reduce silica and trace silicates bonded to the grains. This plant commenced the final stages of commissioning in May 2010. The plant will facilitate higher quality chromite sand production and provide distributions to suit individual foundry’s requirements.
